Misc/New:
For those who may not have heard yet - May 2, 2013 - from John Crippen -I'm very sorry to inform you that that my good friend Bob Rafkin, one the best guitarists in the country, passed away this morning at 7:47 at the age of 69. His wife Kasha asked me to notify all his musician friends Sage advice for the night- and for life: "Don't die at 40 and wait until you're 80 to be buried." Make a difference - NOW!
One bad thing about going around with the Scots a week or so back was that we had to go here and there into places with things musical as things much less expensive here in US so they were "looking" - problem is I was the one who bought stuff - found a set (5) of vintage Remo Roto-Toms so snapped those up pdq. I've never bought a set cause they're so darned expensive in relation to the extremely limited use I'd get from them - but used in conjunction with a cajon, etc. yumm - course need a truck to haul it all - so, will leave at home - but it's there!! Also - putting on Ebay/Craigs shortly, a Mackie Onyx 1640 mixer with the firewire option card (a $350-$400 option) - only used for 1 house concert and one recording session so time to part with it as have plenty of others - all original packaging, in "minty" condition 4-bus, with manuals, cover, etc - will likely be in the $1,100-$1,300 range if you're itching to spend that tax refund check! Just got a note from a bud about doing an ebook on Konokul so got me to thinking about some others - Frank and I keep wanting to do a series of perc. tutorials but will take him coming over here for a few weeks or us going over to Scotland for a few weeks - decisions, decisions................ February 7th-8th, 2014 - Mount Dora - Central Florida Dulcimer & Autohop Festival For info, contact: Ruth Harnden dulcirah@msn.com ******************************************************************************************* Bye for now!! - Any adds, corrections, etc., please send to Chuck Spano, yoda2@bellsouth.net - if sending stuff in for inclusion, it must be in a text file (Word, .txt, etc or an email text file - no images, pdf's and such as don't have time to retype and lots of folks on this list still on dial-up so no images/attachments Also - I do NOT have time to do nothing but search out upcoming events so I rely on folks (like you) to make me aware of major upcoming events (festivals, workshop weekends, etc.) - Pat and I participate in a lot of events and they'll be up along with a bunch of others we know about - BUT, there are others we aren't aware of unless you let us know. Unfortunately lots of stuff comes in but in a format I can't use without re-typing everything - if it arrives that way it most likely won't appear - so, anything for inclusion, please just send as a plain text file or copy one of the things above and put your info in and then send it along - weird typefaces, multiple font sizes and colors, centered/justified changes, etc. all complicate life - if I have to spend much time (a tiny bit is ok) re-formatting submitted info, I likely won't - sorry - also, please include enough info so folks interested in your event can call, email, etc if they have ?? To be removed from this email list just send a note to: yoda2@bellsouth.net If you've received a copy of this info from a friend, etc. and would like to be on our email list, just send a note to me (Chuck Spano) at yoda2 at bellsouth.net (replace the word "at" with the @ sign of course and say you want to be added to the weekly events newsletter Chuck & Pat Spano - Florida Folk Music - www.floridafolkmusic. org Facebook: Chuck Spano www.justintimeoldtimemusic.com www.ormondbeachcelticfestival.com 386-852-5436 +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
